Backpacking Eagle Cap Wilderness - Clayton Getsinger

Backpacking Eagle Cap Wilderness

We were searching for something a little bit different over the 4th of July holiday: an area that we hadn't heard of and a location that was a  bit harder to reach. With some searching we found a large and beautiful area in Eastern Oregon called Eagle Cap Wilderness. The trip was definitely difficult. We drove 15 hours from the Bay Area and set off on a trail with questionable reports of heavy snow (in July!). We managed to get updates along the way that helped us to navigate across a rushing river and over the snow. The end result was well worth it, two days of complete peace and silence filled with iceberg rafting, fly fishing, and some afternoon relaxing.
